Thousand-Island Lake is lying on the border of Anhui and Zhejiang province, 100 kilometers east of Huangshan City. The lake is 573 square kilometers (141600 acres) in size with 1078 green islands dotting in the clear water. Being one of the national first-class scenic spots and the largest forest park in China, the lake is famous for its clear water. The average depth of water is 34 meters (111.5 feet) and the visibility is 9 to 14 meters (29 to 46 feet). The water is so pure that it can be drunk directly.
